PALLIATIVE CARE NEWS

The Palliation Workgroup of the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration (NH CCC) in conjunction with NH Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHHPCO) conducted a survey with technical assistance from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center in June 2010. The questions related to how patients are informed about palliative care services in New Hampshire. One hundred twenty-nine (129) surveys were emailed to organizations that provide care to cancer patients including hospitals, clinics, skilled and long term health care facilities. Eighty-two surveys were completed (38 by mail or email and 44 by telephone) yielding a response rate of 64 percent which is high for a survey of this type. Over two-thirds of the organizations (69%) that responded were skilled nursing, or long-term care, 22 percent were in-patient care and 9 percent were out-patient care facilities.   To see the full report PLEASE CLICK HERE
